Making a difference in our local communities

At Schroders Personal Wealth, we are passionate about making a positive impact on society and the communities we live and work in. Every colleague is given two Community Action Days per year to support local communities or charities they care about.

During National Volunteering Week (2 – 8 June), 37 dedicated colleagues from across our business stepped out into their communities, making a tangible difference through a variety of volunteering events.

In London, our team spent a day at the Waterloo Action Centre, a hub that offers community advice services and hosts various community groups. Our volunteers rolled up their sleeves to tackle both indoor and outdoor tasks, including painting, cleaning, and assisting at the market stall.

In Manchester, the team lent their support to The River, a charity dedicated to helping women and children escaping domestic abuse or facing other vulnerabilities. Our volunteers contributed to The Food Club, sorted and organised items at The Charity Shop, and helped with decorating and maintenance to create a warm and welcoming space.

Meanwhile, in Leeds, colleagues spent a day at The Growing Zone, a safe haven for individuals with or without disabilities to learn, build confidence, and form friendships. Activities included outdoor painting, building and planting in raised beds, and maintaining the grounds.

One of our enthusiastic volunteers shared their experience.

It was a fantastic day away from the office, supporting our local communities. The wonderful people running the charity were incredibly grateful, and we all felt a sense of achievement at the end of the day.

Playing our part in our communities is a core aspect of our commitment to being a responsible business. You can learn more about our Responsible Business initiatives in our latest Responsible Business Report.
