World Alzheimer's Month: Our Partnership with Alzheimer's Research UK
Every September, the world recognises World Alzheimer's Month.
With nearly one million people in the UK living with dementia, many of our colleagues, clients, and their families, have been deeply impacted by this devastating condition.
At Schroders Personal Wealth, we have proudly supported Alzheimer's Research UK as our charity partner since 2021. It was a charity chosen by our colleagues, so is a cause very close to all our hearts.
During Alzheimer's Month, we want to raise awareness of the impacts of Alzheimer’s and explore the ways we’re supporting Alzheimer’s Research UK.
Understanding Dementia
Dementia is a term used to describe a group of symptoms that occur when brain cells stop working properly. This can impact memory, function, and the ability to process information. There are different types of dementia, including Alzheimer's, Vascular Dementia, and Dementia with Lewy bodies. To learn more about dementia, visit the Alzheimer's Research UK (ARUK) website.
Fundraising
Since our partnership with Alzheimer's Research UK began, we have proudly supported their mission to find a cure for dementia.
All our colleagues have two community action days a year to volunteer and fundraise, with many choosing to support ARUK.
Our colleagues have raised almost £180,000 since 2021! This includes over £80,000 from our cycling challenge earlier this year, which saw a team of dedicated colleagues cycle over 400km across Albania. And £3,500 raised by a team of 16 colleagues who completed a 24km hike in Yorkshire in June.
But our efforts don't stop there! Earlier this year we reaffirmed our commitment to supporting ARUK by extending our partnership until the end of 2026. We look forward to continuing this partnership and raising even more money to fund vital research.
